About

Gareth Lewis (Fly Fishing in South Wales)

Welcome to Fly Fishing in South Wales (FFISW), the online home for my personal ramblings regarding the huge and wonderful world of fly fishing and fly tying.

Hailing from the base of the Brecon Beacons National Park in South Wales my fishing focal point and life’s passion/obsession revolves around the small wild Welsh streams and the beautiful, perfectly formed wild brown trout that call them home. I am also a huge devotee to the world of fly tying and, more specifically, in the tying of small/micro flies as well as a range of flies dedicated to the fishing of small streams. An Associate Member of the Game Angling Instructors Association, I am currently undertaking mentoring and training in order to obtain the Game Angling Instructors Certificate (GAIC: Single Handed).

On FFISW you’ll find reports detailing my fishing outings and visits to many of the fishing/tying/casting events throughout the UK, a range of my published articles, a wide range of photos from my time on the streams and rivers here in Wales, as well as detailed fly tying instructions and step-by-step guides.

If you need to get in touch or if you have a query, please feel free to email me via the Contact page and I’ll attempt to get back to you as soon as physically possible, but if you’ve read this far, a huge thank you for visiting and I very much hope you enjoy your time here.

My kindest regards and long live the small streams,
