EA - Wild Fishing Wales Project

An opportunity you cant afford to miss

The Environment Agency Wales are running a series of workshops aimed at promoting the Wild Fishing Wales project and explaining the opportunities for fisheries, angling clubs and local community groups to benefit and get involved.

What is Wild fishing Wales?

Wild Fishing Wales is a £2.6 million project which aims to achieve sustained and measurable benefits for Wales by enhancing environmental quality and improving access to a network of river and still water fisheries throughout the Convergence Area of Wales.

The objective of the Wild Fishing Wales Project is to develop and make more accessible a network of river fishing beats and still waters by helping local communities, fisheries, angling clubs, landowners and rivers trusts to deliver access and habitat improvement projects. The project will also support the development of an accredited training course for angling guides and the introduction of guides to the network of improved sites.

    < ![CDATA[Gareth,

Unfortunately I can't say that I can really support this, especially as the E.A are involved. Surely wildfishing Wales, in my opinion,is by its name fishing wild places in Wales. To provide easier access paths etc defeats the object. Wild fishing will not be wild fishing anymore.

I totally support the actions of groups which improve the qualities of rivers, The Carmarthenshire rivers trust is such an example which carries out much unpraised work, check out their website. no doubt we will debate this in the rain at the weekend!!
    See you soon.

Sorry Bill, I should have mentioned that the above was a copy of an invitation via email rather than my own views. I know what you mean though regarding wild fishing. Kind of takes the ‘wild’ out of wild-fishing if paths, etc are installed. Posted this more as a “pop along to voice any of your own views/opinions” sort of thing. I’ve edited the above post so that it makes sense to more than just me :)

Looking forward to the weekend though Bill, even if the rivers are out, I’m sure we’ll all have fun :) ]]>

    < ![CDATA[Gareth,

No problems, I knew it was a standard invite. Its in Carmarthen on Thursday night, unfortunately I doubt if I'll make it, too much last minute packing and sorting to do. They are planning car parks etc too. I'll probably send an e mail to the E.A. if i don't make it on Thursday.

    See you soon.
