Catchups, Wild Streams, and Photo Marathons
Wow, I can only say wow! 2012 started busy, and it just jeeps getting busier and better!
The busy-ness, of course, is the reason for my lack of real posts lately, and my apologies for not updating the blog as often as I’d like. With some fantastic guided trips out this year (and plenty more booked in), the casting lessons have been very popular also thanks to a fantastic bunch of guys eager to improve and develop their casting skills. The fly tying? Well, as one of my clients put it, “you’re vice must be running red hot at the moment”, and he’d be spot on! I’m overjoyed to have dispatched a number of international fly orders this year, a couple of which include Portugal and Norway. A great feeling knowing your flies are not only hitting the four corners of the UK, but are also being fished on other continents too!
With BFFI 2012 fast approaching next week, I’m busying myself finalising orders and, of course, tying up a selection of flies for my stand at BFFI’s International Fly Tyers Row. The excitement (and a few nerves) are building for BFFI, and what a show to be asked to tie at – this year will be BFFI’s 10th anniversary of what is the fly tying highlight of the year. To say I’m excited is a huge understatement! If you’re planning on attending either day of the weekend-long show, pop by and say hello, it’d be great to catch up and put a name to the face! I’ll be tying a selection of patterns suitable for river trout and grayling and, of course, a majority of my tying time over the weekend will be spent tying dries and emergers in the sub-size #20 range. Interested in tying down to size #32? grab a cuppa/pint and pop by!
For now, I’ll leave you with a quick snapshot of what exactly I’ve been up to since March, and my apologies again for not being able to post as much I’d like. I’ll be posting a taster selection of flies which you can see me tying at BFFI next weekend soon, so stay tuned!
