Pre-Demo Tyings…

Meet the gang...Micros on a Penny...
Clockwise Left to Right – Caenis Spinner (#32), Olive Paradun (#24), Chironomidae Emerger (#24), Chironomidae Pupa (#22), Chironomidae Larva (#28).

Preparing for a weekend-long fly tying demo takes some doing. My gear is nearly packed and ready, and a selection of flies are ready to be placed in their fly clips this coming Saturday for visitors to inspect under a magnifying glass. The RedBull is packed, and my eyes and back are already groaning at the thought of the pain they’ll be feeling come Monday morning; two days spent bent over a vice takes its toll! Yup, a weekend of micro fly-tying is coming up!

Asked to attend the North Wales Country Fair at Rhiwlas, Bala (North Wales) as one of their guest fly tiers, I’m proud and excited to be demonstrating the tying of sub-size #20 dries, emergers and nymphs, and will also be discussing the tackle, techniques and tactics required to fish them effectively. Above is a fraction of the fly selection I’ll be focusing on during the course of the coming weekend, and I’m looking forward to discussing all things ‘small’ with the many visitors that are expected at the show.

If any of you are planning on attending the show, feel free to pop by to say Hi, I’d love to have a chat!
